Dave Mackay
Died yesterday.

I know he was an ex Spurs player but his autobiography is a really good read.

Great player.

I don't care if he was Spurs. A real player and a real man. Not like today's fairies out with a broken finger nail. RIP

I wasn't too happy this morning when Alan Mullery said he was a far more influential captain than Bobby Moore. Totally unnecessary remark to make.

RIP, great player

That picture of him holding Billy Bremner by the scruff of the neck is iconic

One hard man and not a bad player either. Not sure if my memory is playing tricks but seem to recall him playing on with a broken leg while at Derby. RIP

Re: Dave Mackay
Yeah, he did play on with a broken leg but I thought it was with Spurs?

Re: Dave Mackay
Tremendous player, a proper leader of men. I have a copy of that photo with Bremner. Summed Mackay up perfectly, Bremner too the snidey little shit.

My old man said that he was one of the hardest cunts he's ever seen in the game... Must've been fucking tough then...

Achieved a lot - shame about the club that he played for...

RIP Dave Mackay.

He was one tough man and quite possibly the bandiest person ever to shuffle around the planet.

Re: Dave Mackay
Tough player who was respected by others, managed Derby to title and let's not forget his place in tv history .. With Fletch holding up the paper in Porridge with headline 'Mackay Sacked'!!!

But Mullery should NOT have put Bobby Moore down when paying tribute ... Very poor.

Re: Dave Mackay
The thing with him and Bremner though is that in those days the ref would have said behave lads and get on with the game !!!!

Re: Dave Mackay
I think the introduction of colour into the world has ruined it. It was so much better in black & white...
